There are always people who are better with numbers and people who aren’t as good in that regard–IIRC, Lewis considered himself generally innumerate. But it does seem that the problem has grown in more recent years, along with an illiteracy in the sciences in general. Perhaps this is how we get to a place where “the science” can’t be questioned, which is about the most unscientific situation possible.
