I’ve recently installed a forum plugin that will allow you to get notifications using the Telegram messaging system, either instead of or in addition to email. To set up your account to use these, start by sending a message to spareoom_bot using your Telegram app. The content of the message doesn’t matter. The bot will respond with a “Chat ID”, as below:
Once you have that ID number, you’ll need to visit your user preferences page on this site. To do this, click on your user icon in the upper-right corner of the page, then click on your username below it:
From the menu that comes up, click on Preferences:
Then, in the left-hand sidebar, click on Profile. Scroll down the bottom of that page, and you’ll see a field marked Telegram Notifications:
Fill in the number you got from the Spareoom Bot, and click Save Changes. From now on, any notifications the site sends you will go to Telegram.
